Congratulations to Rijil Thomas!

On March 1, 2023, Dr. Rijil Thomas has been promoted deputy head of the Nanophotonics Group at AMO.  “I am very happy about this opportunity,” says Rijil, “as it allows me to dig into my passion for photonics and nanophotonics, and to explore future-looking directions such as quantum technologies and neuromorphic computing, where we have a number of very exciting projects that have just started.”

Dr. Rijil Thomas

Rijil joined AMO on June 2021, becoming soon a central figure in the Nanophotonics group, where he has been working on the development of on-chip light sources as well as of integrated photonics for neuromorphic computing. On his background, he has a PhD from the school of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at NTU in Singapore, and three years of industrial experience as process-integration engineer for silicon-photonics devices at Global Foundries. “It is great to have Rijil in the team,” says the leader of the Nanophotonics group Stephan Suckow, “his careful working style and his expertise in the simulation, design, and process development of nanophotonic components are a great asset for our work.”
