Successful participation in the project HIPERDIAS

AMO GmbH takes part in the H2020-project HIPERDIAS (HIgh throughPut LasER processing of DIamond And Silicon). Aim of this project is the demonstration of laser-based high throughput manufacturing based upon high power sub-1ps lasers with high repetition rate. The project focusses on 3D-structuring of silicon, the fast and precise machining of diamond material as well as the precision blanking of metal work pieces for the watch and pharma industry. Within the framework of the project AMO succeeded in fabricating highly efficient gratings for the Chirped Pulse Amplification (CPA) process. The method for manufacturing such gratings and alike developed and optimized by AMO within HIPERDIAS allows for a diffraction efficiency of 99.6% on an area of 35mm x 45mm. The destruction threshold for a laser wavelength of 1030 nm was found to be 0.3 J/cm².

Hence the devices combine a number of performance indicators on a world class level, thus reaching Technology Readiness Level 7, i.e. a significant step towards marketability has been achieved.
