Visit from Daniel Schall – Reflecting on Research and Exploring Future Collaboration
AMO GmbH was pleased to welcome Daniel Schall, one of the co-founders of Black Semiconductor, back to Aachen. Black Semiconductor is a pioneering spin-off from AMO that is redefining chip connectivity through the use of graphene. The company is part of the European IPCEI Microelectronics program and is receiving €254.4 million in public funding, primarily from the German federal and state governments.
During his visit, Daniel met with Prof. Max Lemme to reflect on the early days of graphene research at AMO and to explore ideas for future collaboration. The exchange highlighted how fundamental research can lead to sustainable innovation—and how scientific partnerships can generate long-term impact.
AMO GmbH is proud to see the continued growth of Black Semiconductor and views the visit as a testament to the successful intersection of research, entrepreneurship, and societal relevance.
