NRW Nano Conference 2025

What an inspiring event! AMO GmbH was proud to take part in the 11th NRW Nano Conference in Dortmund — Germany’s largest platform for nanotechnology and advanced materials.

A special highlight was the visit of Mona Neubaur, Minister for Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of North Rhine-Westphalia, to the AMO booth. She was guided through the exhibition by Dr.-Ing. Harald Cremer (NMWP.NRW) and accompanied by Evelyne Coulombe (Deputy Ambassador of Canada), Ladan Amirazizi (Consul of Canada), Heike Marzen (City of Dortmund Economic Development), and Prof. Dr. Barbara Milow from the German Aerospace Center (DLR). Together, they visited pioneering companies and research institutions — from green epitaxy and particle analytics to quantum photonics and Canadian deep tech.

AMO proudly presented its work at the intersection of nanotechnology, chip innovation, and neuromorphic computing. Representing AMO at the booth were Caroline Porschatis, Herbert Kleinjans, Malik Catic, Federica Haupt, Maike Meyer-Amjadi, and of course Prof. Max Lemme, who also had the opportunity to speak with Minister Neubaur during the tour.

We’re especially pleased to congratulate Nico Rademacher, whose poster titled “Transferring large-scale samples of 2D materials grown on sapphire using deionised water” (nanodiag BW) was awarded 3rd Best Poster of the conference.

Additional poster contributions from AMO and researchers from the Chair of Electronic Devices (ELD):

  • Maxim Lipkin – Low Stress and Crack-Free, 600 nm Thick Ta₂O₅ Waveguides (QSPEC, BMBF)
  • Nour Negm – Graphene Thermal Infrared Emitters in Silicon Photonic Waveguides (ULISSES & AEOLUS)
  • Desislava Daskalova – SERS Biosensors via Nanoimprint Lithography & Black Si (FreeHydroCells)
  • Jimin Lee (ELD) – On-Chip Terahertz Spectroscopy for 2D Materials (Neurotec2)
  • Sofia Cruces (ELD) – Resistive Switching in Lateral 2D MoS₂ Memristors (NeuroSys Cluster)
  • Hui Bian – Polymer Residues & Electrode Deposition in MOCVD MoS₂ Memristors (NeuroSys Cluster)
  • Yuan Fa – Wafer-scale WS₂ Memristors via ALD (Neurotec2)

Stephan Suckow also contributed with a talk on Plasmonic Refractive Index Sensors for Biosensing.

We leave the conference energized by the many excellent contributions and meaningful conversations. Thank you to everyone who stopped by — we’re already looking forward to the next edition!
