Guidelines for accurate evaluation of photodetectors based on emerging semiconductor technologies

New publication in Nature Photonics
We’re proud to share that a Consensus Statement titled “Guidelines for accurate evaluation of photodetectors based on emerging semiconductor technologies” has just been published in Nature Photonics, co-authored by Prof. Max Lemme, Managing Director of AMO GmbH.
In recent years, the field of photodetectors based on emerging semiconducting materials — such as organic semiconductors, perovskites, quantum dots, two-dimensional materials, metal oxides, and carbon nanotubes — has grown rapidly. This progress, however, has also revealed inconsistencies in performance characterization and reporting, which complicate meaningful benchmarking across studies.
To address these challenges, leading experts from academia and industry joined forces to formulate a comprehensive set of guidelines for accurate characterization, reporting, and benchmarking of emerging photodetector technologies. The resulting Consensus Statement aims to establish a common framework for the community, promoting transparency, comparability, and reproducibility in research.
At AMO GmbH, the development of optoelectronic devices based on novel materials — and their integration into conventional photonic platforms — is one of our core research activities. We are proud to contribute to this important initiative that strengthens the foundations of future photonic technologies.
