Congratulations, Dr. Andreas Hemmetter!

29. January 2026

On January 29th, 2026, Andreas Hemmetter successfully defended his PhD at the Chair of Electronic Devices (ELD) at RWTH Aachen University.

His dissertation, titled “Graphene Diodes for Terahertz Rectennas,” addressed a highly challenging research topic, which he pursued with remarkable perseverance and scientific rigor.

His work was carried out in close collaboration between AMO GmbH and RWTH Aachen University and was supervised by Zhenxing Wang.

We would also like to thank our colleagues at Bergische Universität Wuppertal (Daniel Neumaier, Ullrich R. Pfeiffer), Chalmers University of Technology (Jan Stake, Andrei Vorobiev), Goethe University Frankfurt (Hartmut Roskos), as well as many other partners who contributed to this project.

Our thanks also go to the RWTH colleagues Prof. Renato Negra, Prof. Ferdinanda Ponci, and Prof. Volkmar Schulz for their valuable support.

We are delighted that Andreas will continue his scientific career at AMO. As a Senior Researcher, he will contribute to the “GePhen” project together with our long‑term partners AIXTRON SE and Black Semiconductor.

We warmly congratulate him on this important milestone and look forward to many more joint projects.
