nanovate! #12: From Aachen to Europe
The latest issue of our magazine nanovate! is finally out! This edition focuses on three of our current initiatives dedicated to energy-efficient hardware for artificial intelligence (AI).
As AI continues to transform industry, science, and everyday life, the development of innovative and energy-efficient hardware has become a key challenge. At the same time, strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty is increasingly important for ensuring long-term competitiveness, resilience, and sustainable growth. The projects featured in this issue reflect AMO’s commitment to addressing these challenges through pioneering research and strong collaborations across academia, industry, and the public sector.
The cover story highlights the progress of the NeuroSys Cluster, which has evolved over the past four years into a dynamic regional innovation ecosystem for neuromorphic hardware. The magazine also introduces two newly launched Horizon Europe projects: CERBERUS and 2D-ADDICT. Both projects investigate high-risk, low-technology-readiness-level (TRL) concepts based on two-dimensional materials with the potential to revolutionize ultra-energy-efficient AI hardware.
In addition to the feature articles, readers will find updates from across AMO’s research groups, highlights from recent conferences and scientific events, and insights into our latest activities and achievements.
Together, these stories provide a snapshot of the diverse research and innovation efforts underway at AMO. We hope this latest issue of nanovate! offers valuable insights into our research and inspires new collaborations.
We wish you an enjoyable read!
