Recognition for Collaborative Research by AMO and ELD

A significant achievement for the collaborative research efforts of AMO GmbH and the Chair of Electronic Devices (ELD) at RWTH Aachen University: the publication “Influence of Top Electrode Metal on Resistive Switching in Multilayer MOCVD MoS₂ Memristors” has been selected for the Advanced Electronic Materials 10th Anniversary Collection. This special edition highlights outstanding research contributions from the past decade in fields such as neuromorphic computing, flexible electronics, spintronics, and sustainable electronic systems.

The awarded study investigates how different electrode materials and deposition methods influence the resistive switching behavior of MoS₂-based memristors. The results demonstrate that sputtered aluminum is a particularly promising approach for achieving reliable ECM-type switching. With an impressive switching yield of 95%, the work highlights the strong potential of this technology for future electronic applications.

The research was carried out through a close collaboration between the Chair of Electronic Devices (ELD) at RWTH Aachen University, AMO GmbH, and AIXTRON SE. Bringing together expertise in electronic devices, two-dimensional materials, semiconductor processing, and memristive technologies, the project showcases the value of interdisciplinary cooperation in advancing next-generation electronics.

We would also like to thank our funding partners who made this research possible, including the German Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) through the NeuroSys Cluster and the NEUROTEC project, as well as the European Commission and the Chips Joint Undertaking through the ENERGIZE project.

Being featured in the Advanced Electronic Materials Anniversary Collection is a valuable acknowledgment of the scientific quality and impact of this work and highlights AMO’s contribution to the development of future electronic technologies.
