“As a cleanroom manager, I have to ensure maximum safety and quality for the ongoing processes in our cleanroom. Sometimes it can be quite cramped due to the high density of equipment. But fortunately, we are a well-coordinated team. That’s how we continuously optimize and increase the effectiveness of our work. My job is to optimize AMO’s processes, identify risks and minimize them in the long term. I enjoy my work and I face new challenges every day.”
“As the person responsible for marketing and PR, it is exciting to shape AMO’s external image and to work on establishing a uniform corporate design in a dynamic research company. A special challenge is to overcome possible communication barriers between research — in all its facets — and the different target groups of our communications. It’s a lot of fun to work as an interface between different disciplines in a young team of creative scientists.”
“Manufacturing graphene devices is a special R&D challenge. It requires hard work, passion and an experienced team to be successful. As senior researcher, I am involved in both project management and process development. I am very happy to be back at AMO. I learn something new every day through the collaboration and knowledge transfer between junior and senior scientists and technicians.”
“As process engineer, I get cross-thematic insights into the exciting and diverse research areas at AMO. Especially the work in technology transfer is a lot of fun, on one hand because the know-how from the research areas finds here concrete application, and on the other hand because new and undreamed-of applications of nanotechnology keep coming up in discussions with potential R&D customers. It is not always easy to reconcile research projects and R&D customer orders, but that is precisely what makes my work still so interesting.”
“Quantum technologies are extending our measuring capabilities beyond what has been feasible so far. Presently, I am working on QSPEC, a major project coordinated by AMO, where we are trying to develop a new kind of nanophotonic sensor for improved detection of food authenticity, with the potential of vastly impacting our daily life. Working at the intersection of quantum technologies and integrated photonics in such a fascinating and relevant project is exciting and fulfilling.”
“Modern high-power laser systems are complex and require highly skilled specialists to optimize their development and to implement innovative concepts. As PhD student at AMO, I optimize techniques for the fabrication of optical elements for laser applications, and I have the chance to collaborate closely not only with my colleagues at AMO, but also with our European partners in the project GREAT. Everyday, I learn something new and I get motivated by working in a team with them.”
