Innovative solution set to detect contaminants in fruit and vegetable value chains

Fruit and vegetable inspections at production sites and food processing facilities are often done on random batches using techniques that can take a few days to produce results. Analysing data obtained from these inspections, apart from time consuming, can also be costly, leading to reduced checks, which in turn increase the risk of microbiological and chemical contamination. Addressing this, the EU-funded GRACED project aims to develop an innovative sensor for faster, cost-effective and reliable monitoring of food quality and safety in fruit and vegetable value chains which will be validated in various production and distribution systems.
