Perovskite Optoelectronics

Metal-halide perovskites are semiconductors with remarkable opto-electronic properties: they have already proven very successful for fabricating solar cells,  LEDs and photodetectors. One of the most significant advantages of perovskites is their high absorption coefficient, which allows them to efficiently absorb light over a broad range of wavelengths. Furthermore, being efficient light-emitters with a direct band gap, they are in principle suitable for realizing electrically pumped lasers.

AMO began investigating perovskites for photonics applications back in 2015. Since then, the topic has remained a major focus of research, leading to the establishment of a new research group dedicated to Perovskite Optoelectronics in 2022.
