Prof. Akinwande from University of Texas-Austin is visiting AMO GmbH

Professor Deji Akinwande from the University of Texas-Austin is visiting AMO GmbH for one week.  The goal of his visit is to initiate collaborations with AMO researchers and to learn more about the activities in Aachen in the area of new 2D materials.

In his lecture on Thursday, May 11 ‘From Ordinary to Extraordinary:  2D Materials, Devices and Systems’ he will talk about his current groundbreaking research in the area of 2D nanomaterials, furthermore providing an outlook for the forthcoming challenges. The lecture will take place at RWTH Aachen University, Physikhörsaal, Sommerfeldstraße 16 at 4 pm. All those interested are warmly invited to attend.

Just recently, Professor Akinwande has been honored with the 2017 Bessel-Humboldt Research Award, which will bring him to Germany and in particular RWTH Aachen University and AMO GmbH on a more regular basis. Prof. Akinwande and RWTH Aachen Professor Max Lemme are looking forward to mutual exchange of both research groups and Institutions in the future.

Abstract: „From Ordinary to Extraordinary:  2D Materials, Devices and Systems”

This general talk will present our latest research advances on 2D nanomaterials towards greater scientific understanding and advanced engineering applications. In particular the talk will highlight our work on flexible devices and nanoelectronics, wearable sensors, straintronics, topological insulators, 2d memory and non-volatile switches and new transistor concepts. Finally, recent commercial electronic products employing graphene and related materials will be featured.
